6 Parameters to Consider when Choosing a Water Filter

The parameters of the water filter determine its performance, and we need to consider it comprehensively when purchasing it. This article will specifically introduce the six parameters that need to be considered when choosing a water filter.
6 Parameters to Consider when Choosing a Water Filter

There are many types and brands of water filters on the market now, we need to choose according to some basic parameters of the water filter. The following is detailed information on these parameters.

1. Filter element

Generally, the filter element has several levels of filtration, such as level 4, level 5, level 6, and level 7. Generally, level 4 includes PP cotton, granular activated carbon, ultrafiltration membrane, reverse osmosis RO membrane, level 5 adds a post activated carbon, level 6 adds a scale inhibitor, etc. The higher the number, the better the filtration effect and the higher the price. Expensive, and the cost of maintenance also rises accordingly.

2. Flux

The flux mainly describes the amount of water purified by the 24-hour water purifier. Like our common 400G, 600G, 800G, and 1000G, they are common specifications. The greater the flux, the shorter the waiting time, and the price increases proportionally. The current mainstream is 600G, which is about 600 gallons in 24 hours. Converted to 1.58L/min per minute, 800G is 2.1L/min. This depends on the specific needs.

3. Wastewater ratio

The production of wastewater is mainly from the reverse osmosis RO membrane. When producing purified water, wastewater is also produced. Therefore, there is a saying that the wastewater ratio is common. The common wastewater ratio is 1:1.5, 1:2, and 1:3, for example, 1:1.5 It means that when 1L of purified water is produced, 1.5L of wastewater will be produced at the same time. Normally, the less wastewater produced, the higher the efficiency and the more water saving.

4. With/without pressure bucket

Some small flux water purifiers will have a pressure bucket, which is also a water storage bucket design. Store the prepared water and take it out of the bucket first when it is needed, especially some RO reverse osmosis water purifiers with small flux, the water production speed is relatively slow, a pressure bucket can effectively alleviate the problem of slow water production.

5. Size

Like the kitchen machine, the size of the bottom space directly determines the size of the water purifier, so you can measure the size of the space you want to place before buying, and then choose according to the size.

6. Single/double water outlet

In fact, this is more of a functional thing, depending on personal needs. The single effluent is only one type of water, either through composite filtration or composite filtration + RO filtration. The dual outlet is to combine the two together, and you can freely choose whether to pass RO filtration or not. If only the composite filtration is passed, the RO membrane will not be consumed.
